They may need simple things like help writing letters, cooking, cleaning, etc. Or, they may need more advanced help in the form of skilled medical visits. Irregardless, there are highly qualified home health care providers available in Silverdale, Washington to help. Here are some of the ones I am personally familiar with:

Posture Back Support

Posted by stanleyayala1979 on October 25, 2009

Good posture is a sign of physical and emotional health. But ask nearly anyone with back pain if they have good posture, the answer more often than not is no.

So, if most people do not know what good posture is, how can they expect to maintain it? Education about posture is usually limited to one sentence, “sit up straight.” But there is much more that the posturally challenged need to know before they attempt to combat a slouch. Most importantly, attempting to correct posture without basic guidelines can result in just as much pain and dysfunction as the “bad posture” itself. Fortunately there is hope with a little bit of knowledge and application of the posture basics below.

Know What Proper Posture Is and Isn’t

Good posture isn’t simply standing up straight and keeping your shoulders back. Healthy posture maintains the proper alignment of structures so that optimal biomechanical function is achieved. This limits physical stress and prevents breakdown of the body. The feet and the abdominal musculature play vital roles in posture maintenance, as they are the foundation and the core strength respectively. A flat foot or a weak transverse abdominis muscle will cause postural distortions to varying degrees which predisposes the body to pain and injury.

The Plumb Line

There are certain points of the body that should align themselves vertically so that the body bears its weight and moves through space efficiently. Imagine a perfectly straight line passing through the body from the head to the floor. This line is called a plumb line and it is used to visualize these “posture points” and to identify structural imbalances three dimensionally.

Posture Points

Posture points are best identified in the profile or side view. Starting at the feet, these points pass slightly in front of the bony part of the ankle, the center of the knee, the front of the sacrum, the lumbar vertebra, the bony part of the shoulder and up through the opening of the ear. These points ideally should all fall along the plumb line. If the neck or a shoulder drifts in front of the line, there is an imbalance in the opposing musculature from front to back and the posture is disrupted.

From a posterior view the spine should be in the midline and align itself with the middle of the base of the skull. The shoulders and nape of the neck, as well as the earlobes should be horizontally symmetrical. In this position, asymmetries such as an elevated shoulder and a lowered earlobe signifying a head tilt on the same side can be visualized.

From the anterior or front view, the plumb line passes along the midline of the breastbone and bisects the area between the eyebrows. A forward shoulder, a high or low patella, or unleveling of the horizontal alignment of the eyes can be identified in this position.

Posture Basics

Good posture first requires a level foundation. Fallen arches, flat feet and damaged achilles tendons must be attended to appropriately to prevent the legs from functioning as if they are two different lengths. Orthotics or professionally fitted shoe inserts are a good way obtain this balance.

Once the foundation is leveled, the core muscles must be strengthened and retrained. The abdominal muscles, particularly the transverse abdominis, must maintain its tension in order to support the posture. When this muscle is functioning properly, the shoulders, neck and head cannot drift forward and will naturally align themselves closer to the plumb line. For this reason, attempting to correct posture by pulling back the shoulders is fatiguing and ineffective, and creates exactly the physical stress that you are trying to avoid with postural correction.

To strengthen the transverse abdominis muscle, gently pull your belly button back approximately one centimeter toward the spine without using your breath to assist you. The pelvis will shift slightly forward and the abdomen should elongate. Maintain this slight tension when walking, sitting and standing. Once these muscles are re-educated, your body will more naturally adapt to the new, corrected position with much less thought and effort.

Specific postural distortions can be addressed and fine tuned once the above basics of posture are mastered. In addition, structural causes of postural distortion such as an anatomically short leg, osteoporosis or scoliosis can be identified with simple posture examinations by your health care professional.

Be Aware

The most important tool in postural health is awareness. Become familiar with your own postural patterns and weaknesses so that you can develop the skills to manage them. Health and well-being can be directly enhanced by knowing and applying the basics of good posture and frequent postural checkups should be part of the healthcare regimen for you and your family.

long term care hospital

Re: long term care facilities
Seniors are living longer and longer these days. Their baby boomer children also will be living much longer. Discussing long-term care may be embarrassing, but it is a reality that must be dealt with. Please don't wait until you are incapacitated to make your long-term care wishes known. It is your responsibility to speak with your adult children. Let them know exactly what your wishes are should you become unable to function.

Do you have a recent legal will for the state in which you now reside? If you die without a will ,and have a substantial estate, it will be costly to untangle. The probate process can be very lengthy in some states. Take the time now to arrange your legal affairs while you are still healthy.

It would also be wise to have a Living Will which stipulates your exact wishes for medical care. The document is in writing and should be notarized. Many banks offer Notary Public services for free these days. A Living Will directs caregivers not undertake any expensive and extensive procedures to prolong your life. It is a touchy subject that you need to tackle your adult children.

Have you made any provision for burial services? Do you wish a traditional funeral? Today, even a basic no-frills burial package is around $6,000. Do you have a life insurance policy? Perhaps you also have a policy that pays for your final expenses. Do your children know about these policies and where they are kept? Due to the high cost of funerals today more and more seniors are choosing to be cremated. Cremation services can be had ranging from $800 and into the thousands. Prices are not going down for these services. You can buy a pre-need cremation package and lock-in a fixed price.

Medical costs keep rising. Do you have medical insurance that provides for long-term care? If not, the burden of caring for you will fall on your family. Your assets will quickly be eaten up if you need care outside of the home. There are horror stories all over the country about people that go into state run nursing homes. It isn't pleasant for many. Discuss with your children what you want done. Your children will be using their assets when yours are gone. Is that what you want? Your adult children may not be aware of what it costs for long-term care. You may have to enlighten them.

It's a shame that many seniors have no assets and have to depend on the generosity of their children for their care. To be fair to them, you need to broach the subject and tell them what you wish for them to do regarding your long term care. Talking about the birds and the bees is much simpler than talking about hospitals and nursing homes and funerals. If your adult children live out of state it can be a huge problem to coordinate your care.

Discussing long-term care with your adult children is never going to be a pleasant subject. Unfortunately, it has to be dealt with. At a minimum, make sure that you have a legal will. Also, make sure you have a living will, in writing, that makes your final wishes clear to all. Discuss your burial arrangements with your children. Let your children know if you have any insurance policies, and where they are kept. As unpleasant as the topic may be, it needs to be discussed while you are physically able. Make your long-term care plans now.

Men Fertility Age

Posted by stanleyayala1979 on October 23, 2009

Re: Female Fertility Age

When someone you care about is having fertility problems, it can be hard even to say the word “baby” around them, much less choose a conception-related gift. There are times, though, when you might really want to let them know how much you care. Maybe it's your best friend, sister or even your own spouse you want to show support for. If it's someone you're truly close to, they'll appreciate knowing that you're pulling for them during this difficult time. Here are some gift ideas that will show a couple trying to conceive that you wish them the best.

Fertility symbols
Fertility symbols make good casual gifts, since there's nothing terribly intimate them. Both members of the couple can enjoy home decor like Kokopelli, the hump-backed flute player of the American Southwest or Aku'Aba, the woman-shape fertility figure of the Ashanti people of Ghana. If you're looking for a gift specifically for the woman, though, consider fertility jewelry. LaBelleDame.com has some lovely fertility jewelry, including a beautiful fertility tracking bracelet. Remember, though, it doesn't have to be labeled “fertility jewelry” to carry meaning for the wearer. Fish symbolize fertility in China and parts of the Middle East, while turtles represent fertility to some Native American nations.

Baby-making humor
A little well-placed humor can help take the edge off the stress of infertility. Would you believe there are coffee mugs and T-shirts out there with “trying to conceive” themes? There are and they're available at Early-Pregnancy-Tests.com.

Books: meditations and healthcare
Books about fertility and conception can generally be grouped into two categories: those that deal with the emotional and spiritual aspects and those that provide information on reproductive health. From the former group, there are books like Pennies from Heaven: 101 Meditations for Couples Trying to Get Pregnant by Frances Stone and Philip Stone or, for the more religious, Hannah's Hope: Seeking God's Heart In The Midst Of Infertility by Jennifer Saake. For women more interested in the physical practicalities, you might choose a book like Taking Charge of Your Fertility: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health by Toni Weschler. There's even a quarterly magazine for couples hoping for a baby: Conceive Magazine (www.conceiveonline.com).

Dietary supplements
There are a few herbs around that have been clinically proven to support fertility and promote reproductive health. Some for women are chaste tree berry (Vitex agnus castus), evening primrose (Oenothera biennis) oil, and dong quai (Angelica sinensis). For the gentlemen, choices include pumpkin seeds, astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus), and saw palmetto (Serenoa repens). A number of packaged supplements are also available for men, among them Proxeed (www.proxeed.com) and FertilAid for Men (www.fertilaid.com). Be careful giving nutritional supplements, though, because some may worsen certain health conditions or interfere with prescription medication. If you want to give herbs to a woman who's trying to get pregnant, but you're unsure of her exact health status, give raspberry leaf tea mix. This tonic is safe for almost anyone.

Aphrodisiac gift basket
This gift is more fun than utilitarian, but it should bring a smile to the faces of just about any couple. Although most of the effectiveness of aphrodisiac foods has to do with their shape or texture, in many cases they do actually contain substances that support reproductive health or increase desire. You can order a lover's gift basket at GiftGourmetBaskets.com or make your own. Include bananas, figs, oysters, avocados, and if you can afford them, truffles. And, of course, don't forget the chocolate dip and strawberries. Seeds like pumpkin seeds, anise, or fennel or anything that resembles eggs are also good bets.

Fertility monitoring aids
Women have quite a few choices when it comes to products for keeping track of ovulation and hormone levels. A digital basal thermometer helps a woman predict ovulation based on body temperature. Fertile Focus (www.fertile-focus.com), a saliva-based fertility monitor, helps pin-point estrogen surges. On the pricer end on the scale is the ClearBlue Fertility Monitor, which provides information on levels of two different hormones and rates current fertility as low, high, or peak. If the couple you're buyng for has been trying for a while, though, they probably already have most of these. In that case, they might appreciate as less common gift like fertility monitoring software.

PreSeed Intimate Moisturizer
Obviously this one is only appropriate for someone you know very well, but it could be quite a useful gift. Because anxiety over trying to conceive causes many would-be mothers to experience dryness, many women who are trying to get pregnant use personal lubricants. The problem with this is that these products usually contain chemicals that harm sperm. PreSeed (www.preseed.com) is different in that it was developed specifically to provide a pH balance and salinity level that are healthy for sperm.

Choosing a gift for a couple trying to conceive requires thought and sensitivity, but there are few better ways to show your support. Whether you opt for a fun, casual gift like a fertility figurine or a “baby-maker” coffee mug or you get right down to business with a good fertility monitoring aid, your gift just might help bring another life into the world. In any case, your show of support is sure to be appreciated.

Re: Apply For a Loan

Setting the Stage: Picking the Right Loan Officer

If you are not in the best financial shape ever and have some problems with credit, there is definitely justification about worrying about whether or not your loan application will be approved. Before you go in to apply for your loan, it is a good idea if you are worried to talk with your loan officer about it first.

Your loan officer will most likely give you a good idea about the chances of your loan getting approved or rejected. If the outlook is grim, you might want to try finding another loan officer in the bank, or even go to another bank where perhaps you will have better luck. If your chances look a little brighter then it is time to move ahead. Either way this step can often help stop yourself from wasting time on a loan that is going nowhere.

Preparing Before Your Loan Application

Preparation is exceedingly important when you are going for a loan application. Banks do not like to do business with people who only seem to have a vague idea of the shape their finances are in, especially when those finances aren’t in the best shape to begin with.

You want to impress your loan officer with how much you understand your finances. Know your numbers, have the facts and the figures ready to back it up and show the loan officer exactly what will happen with the loan and why you need it. As long as you are on the ball your loan officer will be impressed and your chances of getting the loan increased.

For example, if you are going in for a personal loan, you will definitely want an up-to-date estimation of your net worth, as well as any other important financial documents. If you are going for a business loan, you will need quite a bit of information: tax information for previous years, estimated profit and loss projections for the next two or three years and things of that sort.

Preparation is a key step in keeping your loan from being rejected.

If Your Loan Request is Denied

Just because your initial loan request is denied doesn’t mean that it is the end of the road for you. Many people believe this, however and give up after the first denial.

Persistence and assertiveness are the keys to winning your loan request even if you’ve been rejected at first. You might think you need to go to another bank, but there are good chances that you will eventually win out in the end with your original bank.

The first step is to return to the loan officer that turned you down. Ask him to explain why he rejected the request. This will give you good information in general on what makes a bad loan application, as well as giving specific advice on your own loan. You can also ask him what it would take for you to have your loan approved after it has been rejected.

Remember, your bank works for you, you don’t work for your bank. Even if the chances of your loan being approved at this point are slight, take the time to learn about the whys and what to do to improve your chances.

Sometimes this step in itself is enough to get your application approved. Your persistence and willingness to talk to the loan officer has won him over to your side and your application is approved.

If this still doesn’t work you can try finding a more senior loan officer within the bank. Many times junior loan officers are not allowed to give out loans to those with bad credit no matter the situation, and you will want to talk with a more senior loan officer who will have more latitude in working with you. If no one at the bank is interested in helping you after you’ve been denied, then it is finally time for you to head off to another bank.

Marshall Democrat Newspaper

Posted by stanleyayala1979 on October 20, 2009

Isaakn
In my previous article Progressives Hijacked the Once Noble Democrat Party, a commentator weighed in on my choice of terms and my characterizations of Progressives. Here's my commentator inspired justification for the virtual takeover by Progressives of the mainstream Democrat Party, as well as the link to my aforementioned article:
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2114997/progressives_hijacked_the_once_noble.html?cat=9

Here is the pertinent part of my reply to the commentator that spurred this article. “Why did the Democrat Party NOT shut down the radicals to start with?” Three reasons – fear, not really seeing the threat and Dems enjoying the weight of numbers they enjoyed when the radicals joined the formerly sane, rational, and AMERICA LOVING Democrat Party.” Let's explore this concept and see if reader's don't agree with my synopsis.

First point first. Fear. Fear is a very real and awesome condition. Fear paralyzes some folks and motivates others to extraordinary action. For me personally fear paralyzes me for the briefest moment. I regroup and get to ciphering fast. and then I move to action. Fear is a powerful tool if one does not let it paralyze them.

For many, fear leads to complete paralysis. Fear leads to total inaction. Fear leads to flight. Fear often lends itself to the kicking in of the survival mechanism and for many folks that is to flee the fearful situation – not a shameful or at all uncommon reaction.

I am talking about fear that prevents one from doing the right thing. When we see a child in danger most adults have no fear for themselves, but for the child, no? But when the fear is personal and more subtle, like politics, many let their fear of dealing with the problem rule the day. Bad move folks. That's how Hitler got where he was ya know.

How many times have I pleaded with Conservatives that “Republicanism HAS NOT moved to the Right” as the Lefties love to toss out? FEAR is what makes most Conservatives go quiet at this comment. They fear ridicule and all the rest. Odd, Progressives have no fear of us when they allege their foolish and lying talking point, now do they? So why fear them? Stand up to the SOB's. DO NOT let them cow you into silence, acquiescence or going along to get along. Wrong move – BIGTIME!

Democrats MUST NOT fear the usurpers of your formerly great political party. Toss them out in to the gutter where their Marxism belongs, for Christsakes!

Next we come to reason number two for the entrenchment of radicalism with the ranks of Democrat Party politics – not seeing the threat for what it is! And this one is inexorably tied to the last of the three reasons – the enjoyment of Democrats at their new found voices and political power!

I do not believe Democrats are evil and un-American. Don't no one dare ask me if that feeling carries over to radical Progressivism – ya might not like my answer! But who can really blame Democrats for the feeling of power when we add the ELF, ACORN, SEIU and sundry other verminous scum to their voting block?

Would I NOT WANT reactionaries to vote with my peeps? Of course I want their vote for my side but NOT because I favor reactionary political thought and action, but instead because I like the weight of numbers they add to Conservatism. But if they began to wield actual power I would be the FIRST to fight them, and I mean fight them.

I was a huge and vocal opponent of Lyndon LaRouche and his radical Right-wing reactionary positions. Remember, the political spectrum is not so much a flat line but a circle. If the bottom of the circle, the “6 0'clock position” is dead middle of the road center, what would we find? At the top would be Communism, and Fascism – they are the same thing. REMEMBER, no matter WHAT a Progressive will tell you, NAZI's were NATIONAL SOCIALISTS!

Get it? Socialists? Only difference between them and Commie Socialists and Marxists (just really a difference in degree) are the Commies want to OWN the means of production. The Fascist National Socialists don't wanna actually own and administer it, but they do totally direct, guide and exercise dominion over private enterprise. But the reality is they were both FASCIST ideologies!

So yes, can the reader grasp that it is easy to WANT the voting block power and support of anyone who will vote for your choice, but letting them have any real power and “political plank laying authority” is a real bad way to go? History clearly shows this, no?

And this is where Democrats lost their way. They were heady after seeing all the power the radicals could wield. They welcomed the radicals as Democrat voters. I mean who the Hell else could radicals vote for and have any hope of real political power?

Radical environmentalists could vote Green and some do. It's like voting for Perot. Sure, you used your vote to make a statement. So, what was the statement? That I am an idiot and got caught up in the moment. Sorry friends. I know that may anger some of you. Life's a bitch, huh?

Like voting for Ron Paul. Yep, I love his populist rhetoric. But I am SAVVY enough to separate my love of his populist rhetoric from the remotely doable. And Ron Paul could win a national election when them monkeys pop their little heads outta my ass, right? No monkeys folks. I asked my wife to confirm my rectum is at this point “monkey free!”

Do Democrats see where they fell off the straight and narrow path to political relevancy? If not they will get a much better look at it soon – November 2010 to be exact.

Democrats are to blame for this usurpation. Well them and the idiot voters who expressed “I'm down for a new day. Hope and change and all that BS!” If Democrats, and I mean run of the mill, rank and file old time JFK mold Democrats wanna ever win again they better take hold of the radicals by the balls and squeeze 'til they yell, then squeeze some more. Squeeze 'til their radical little faces turn blue with fear, pain and a desire to flee, then squeeze 'em even tighter.

THAT'S how to get rid of these usurpers. As I alluded to, we have seen this before. The Moral Majority tried to gain sway in the Republican Party of Reagan, but we rank and file Conservatives tossed them out. Oh sure, there are millions of evangelicals in the Conservative movement, and that's great. BUT, no so when they organize and try to lay planks onto the platform of the noble Conservative movement.

We pulled up their planks and tossed 'em back at them. Again, evangelicals are a very important part of Conservatism, but they DO NOT lay the planks for which my movement works so hard to forward. The Moral Majority got a little full of themselves and thought THEY made the rules. We very quickly disabused them of such notions.Yes, they are very welcome to Conservatism and we value them, but they are not the “Deciders.”

Democrats need to take a lesson from Conservatives on this one. Democrats need to demand Nancy Pelosi and her ilk head their verminous asses back where they came from. ONLY fellow Democrats can save themselves from a more ignominious fate. Lack of informing the Progressive movement they are NOT the “Deciders” of Democrat planks will see their end.

Isn't all we see at present a rather stark example that vast majorities of this nation ARE NOT on board for Progressive government alterations? If they can't see this, Democrats are doomed. As a Conservative that is fine by me. And if rank and file Democrats go along quietly, or worse, let the swelled ranks of the Democrat Party lull rank and file Democrats to silence and going along to get along, they will be most sorry.

My nation has been abundantly clear about this. Go ahead Democrats. Let yourselves be FURTHER lulled into going along with things that I am pretty sure most of you find reprehensible, at least in the depths of your awareness. If these things the Progressives are engaged in DO NOT spur you to revulsion, kiss your ass and your Party goodbye.

Now, who wants to weigh in here and tell me I am wrong? And how about some specifics instead of just telling me I am a mistaken ass? I know that some of you guys – Democrats I hope – can at least admit that this IS NOT what they signed on for when they supported this nation's current leadership. Or was it? Was THIS what you folks had in mind? And NO, I don't mean fixing all the ills y'all imagine are out there, but I mean ARE THESE CURRENT PROGRESSIVE FIXES THE ONES YOU WOULD CHOOSE IF YOU COULD BE THE ARBITER?

Again, not the things y'all want and feel the need to address, but the FIXES the Progressives are trying to install?

I will be most interested in the comments. Prolly just wasting my time again…
